Gathering to oppose plans to open up NZs pristine waters to deep-sea oil drilling.
Come to show support and be prepared to get covered in fake oil (molasses) to help send a strong visual message that we don't want to risk a catastrophic oil spill!

After the action we will enjoy beautiful Kaiteriteri beach, cherishing the clear water, golden sand and sea life - things worth protecting and taking action for.

Shared transport can be arranged from Nelson and Richmond.
Preferably wear dark togs.

Dirty Oil: Film screening to mark the International Stop the Tar Sands Day

As the world runs out of cheap oil, companies are exploiting regions that were once too expensive, too difficult, too dangerous or just too plain dirty. In Canada, this means mining the tar sands. In Aotearoa, it means increased oil exploration, deep-sea drilling and exploiting lignite.

To mark the International Stop the Tar Sands Day, Climate Justice Wellington are hosting a screening of Dirty Oil, a film by Leslie Iwerks.

Regional Day of Action - Hands across the Sand

On Wednesday 25th June 12.00 noon, people from Nelson, Motueka and Golden Bay will have the opportunity to join hands and draw a line in the sand against offshore oil drilling in NZ waters and the dangers it presents to our oceans and marine life, our tourism industry, fishing industry, and our children's future.
No one industry should be able to place entire coastal economies at risk with dangerous mistakes.

Eleventh Australasian Permaculture Convergence

Come and join us in this peaceful gathering - to commemorate the first anniversary of the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico and to express our concern of a similar catastropy happening here.
