Post and Beam Construction

Learn how to frame an inexpensive, low-carbon shed using an innovative
hybrid post and beam design. The hybrid design uses raw logs and
dimensional lumber in a combination that keeps costs and carbon down,
but does not require specialized mortising equipment Although it is
possible to build the shed with only hand tools, a few common power
tools can be used to speed up the process and improve accuracy for
beginners. A number of different tools and techniques will be
demonstrated over the course of the weekend while building the frame
for a 10 sq.m shed

This is the third one day module for a permaculture design certificate which will be run over 12 weekends throughout 2010 plus the design presentation. Each session will give an overview of permaculture ethics & principles before starting the module. Participants can either choose to complete the certificate or choose certain modules of interest without receiving the certificate.
