Sea Buckthorn
Does anyone know where I can source Sea Buckthorn (Hippophae rhamnoides or Hippophae salicifolia) either to buy or propagate. Edible berries, Nitrogen fixer potentially good permaculture plant. Thanks

I also would like to grow a sea buckthorn plant. Would greatly appreciate any help in sourcing this plant. |

www.b-and-t-world-seeds.com in England has seed of this & ships around the world, I don't know what do do about customs here.
I never found it in NZ, I think it may be present (a 2000 nursery register lists a Hippophae (species not specified) with Top Trees in Hawkes Bay, not sure if they still exist)
I saw them preparing some on "River Cottage" on TV a few weeks ago, very mushy berries and thorny, awkward. |

I think they are forbidden fruit in NZ. High weed potential apparetly.
If you find them I'd be interested though. |
