ITINERARY
Saturday
10.00am Opening
Introductions from each of the students. Name, a little bit about yourself and main reasons you are attending the course i.e. you want to learn about seed raising or maybe you just want to find out a bit more about Permaculture and what its all about.

10.45am Introduction to Permaculture Principles, Ethics and Design system
In a nutshell Permaculture is a design system for a sustainable future which started in agriculture but also stems to alternative energies and building materials. And basically using the resources that are available to you that are free or of very little cost. Also fitting in well with the typical NZer DIY attitude. But this will be covered more indepth on the course.

11.15am Morning tea and video
Bring something to share for morning tea. We will watch ½ of Bill Mollisons Global Gardener video on Permaculture.

12.00pm Observation task
A quick 5 minute observation of the property we will create a Permaculture design for. Discussion on what each of us has observed followed by a brief on clients wants and needs. Brainstorm of ideas.

1.00pm Lunch
Shared lunch…….Photos on Permaculture projects, books on Permaculture subjects etc will be displayed for everyone to have a look through during the lunch break.

2.00pm
Pacing out and measuring of property to be designed. Split into smaller groups to create a design for allocated areas.

3.00pm
Sharing our thoughts and ideas for design with whole group. Fine tuning of designs….possible changes?

4.00pm
Begin implementing part of the design.

5.00pm
Official closing. For those who would like to carry on with implementation…….possible fish n chip dinner (yuk), discussions or another video on earthship homes (made from tyres and mud adobe).

Sunday,
10.00am
Set the plan for the day together as a group….
Subjects I would personally like to cover are ‘hands on’ Mud adobe….No-dig gardening, seed raising, propagation, organic sprays and pest control. Possibility of a little talk on topography.

1.00pm Lunch and other half of Global Gardener Video

5.00pm
Official closing, but if you want to stay and implement more of the design or play an instrument and have a few drinks, BBQ or something your welcome to hang out and pick my brains ……. But not too much….
