After all that great flurry of energy at the Hui, did anyone get together the design blitz that was briefly addressed at the end of the last day...Floyd??
I hope that our hosts can receive something tangible and inspiring from us in the form of a design overview for sustainble land and resource management on the marae.
I'm happy to put in an effort to get this done in some way shape or form, is anyone else keen?

As far as I am aware Alicia and Floyd had put up their hands for this - but I will also put my foot forward to help with this one too. Can this be managed from here. I think the key points need to be posted here to gives us some form of a brief. Poihaere would obviously feature here too.

I ended up just doing a concept design on my own...I've sent and electronic copy of the plan to Gary William to put forward to the exec for a more thorough group effort but the reality of this happening any time soon seems vague.
I'd love to pass on the full design plans and note directly to the marae as a gift and tangible sign of initiating the process (something to grow a vision from). Emily Williams suggested to me that the Roadshow may be a good vehicle to deliver this seed.

Finn here. I am involved in REKA, a Te Runanga O Ngati Awa initative (introduced at the Annual Hui) aimed at implementing integrated food production systems at Tu Teao marae in Te Teko. I am committed to seeing tangata whenua design and implement their own food production systems on their marae. I think there is definitely a place for outside 'permaculturalists' and those who support the kaupapa to get involved as well. However, this programme is a great opportunity for the hapu to design their own systems and implement them and I request that those interested in supporting them work to their and REKA's schedule. The next wananga focuses on designing a permaculture food system and the following wananga can be considered the 'permablitz'. The dates for this 'Do it" wananga in which the design will be implemented at Tu Teao are December 4 -6. Please contact the marae, ringawera of the marae or Poihaere Morris to find out how to get involved.
