community ownership structures

Hi all,
I am on a bit of a mission to compile some information that will help
interested people understand the opportunities and challenges provided
by the various options for community land ownership in Aotearoa.

I am intending to help compile a list of all the possible legal
ownership structures, their features, pro's and cons.

I would also like to compliment this with a summary of the various
community/ecovillage models existing in New Zealand, what has worked
for them and what they would do differently next time.

I have some time and energy to put into this over the next few weeks
and will be doing so in conjunction with a small group of students
based at Rainbow Valley Farm.  Part of what we are hoping to achieve
is to give the farm a clearer idea of the best options to secure its
future.  In addition we will produce a document that provides an
objective look at community structures.

This will be a useful document for many people and will be made
available to anyone who is interested. (not sure how exactly, but that
can come later)

BUT... we need help in order to make this a most excellent thing.  If
you live in a community and know its inner workings and history, or
have some good general information on legal structures -  we need
you!  flick me an email and we can take it from there.

If we have to re-create the wheel, we will . . . but we'd rather not
have to - so feel free to throw us a spoke or a rim or whatever you've
got spare.

Many thanks
James A.
