DESIGN FOR LOCAL RESILIENCE BY LEARNING SOME APPROPRIATE TECHNOLOGY.
This is technology that can be made at an affordable price by ordinary people using local materials to do useful work in ways that do the least possible harm to both human society and the environment.

Learn by doing.

Use local building materials for walls, surface decorative finishes, pizza, ovens, and raised garden edges.

1) Introduction to traditional earth building -
Tradtional mud brick and cob to make modern buildings.

Do you have the desire to start a land-based business that is resilient to climate change, energy decline, economic restructuring and peak everything? The NorthTec Horticulture Dept is offering a “Sustainable Rural Development Level 4” in Silverdale with Transition Town organisers and tutors Gawain Sharp and Betsy Kettle. Gawain has a business planning background and Betsy has experience designing organic permaculture/ horticulture properties.

Join the 'Mother of Organics' and our community gardens coordinator for a full day's gardening experience--learn basic garden organisation and set-up, techniques for seed planting and herb propagation and use tools that make the job easier. For lunch, we will gather some herbs and greens for a salad and tea. Followed by a tour to Margaret's mature landscape to see what a garden can become!
$50 cost includes morning tea, lunch, and afternoon tea.
